Appointment is a first for the litigation investment capital provider

Article comments

Litigation investment capital provider Burford Capital has named Miriam Connole as its first CFO thereby bringing the finance function in-house for the first time.

The firm had previously outsourced financial management and said Connole’s appointment was down to its rapid expansion over the past year.

Connole is the former group commercial finance director of Friends Life. Prior to Friends Life, she was the CFO of RSA's central and eastern European region.

Having been in the insurance industry of over a decade, Connole has also worked for AIG and ACE.  She qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen

Christopher Bogart, CEO of Burford Capital, said, "With Burford's business expanding significantly over the past year, it is time to enlist someone of Miriam Connole's expertise and experience as CFO.”

"We are delighted to have found someone with her international perspective, tax background, and deep involvement in the financial services industry," he added.
