Mining giant Anglo American and cement maker Lafarge have named Guy Young as the CFO of their UK joint venture.
In a statement on Friday, both companies said the joint venture, which was agreed last year, would create a leading UK construction materials company, with a portfolio of assets drawing on the complementary geographical distribution of their operations, assets, management skills and a portfolio of well-known brands.
It will begin operation over the first quarter of 2013 pending regulatory approval. In other executive appointments for the venture, Cyrille Ragoucy was named the chief executive and Jamie Pike as non-executive chairman.
Cynthia Carroll, chief executive of Anglo American and Bruno Lafont, chairman and chief executive of Lafarge said, "We welcome Jamie Pike as chairman, Cyrille Ragoucy as CEO and Guy Young as CFO of the Joint Venture, a new business which brings together two high quality and complementary UK businesses to create a compelling new industry proposition through which we expect to unlock significant value.”
